Polly’s Picture Show presents its second exhibition in Amsterdam under the title of Artefacts. Artefacts focuses on the works of six young artists, who are dealing with the subject of found footage, collecting and archiving. The exhibition incorporates photography, installation art, video and sculpture. With this exhibition, Polly’s Picture Show again raise the question of where the boundaries of photography lie and in which manner photography depicts objects as indexical to cultural relevance.
What binds together the works presented at Artefacts is an archeological approach towards the objects of history. The artist are analyze, in their own ways, the importance of cultural material in our society. In a broader sense; the exhibition Artefacts reflects on the artist as a creator of cultural history and the depiction of history as an act of creation.
